Nuffield Council on Bioethics publish Public Dialogue on the Genomic Editing of Farmed Animals

We’re delighted to announce that the public dialogue we undertook into the genomic editing of farmed animals has officially been published!

We carried out this dialogue on behalf of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, with support from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)’s Sciencewise programme.

80 members of the public came together across four weekend workshops to discuss the potential benefits and concerns around the use of genomic editing in farmed animals, and where its applications can fit in the wider food and farming system.

We’re immensely proud of how hard the Basis Social team, and our partners, worked in order to deliver on such important work. The findings will have a significant role in informing debate around the Genetic Technologies Bill, currently going through parliament.
