Basis Social wins Innovative Methods Award at the Analysis in Government Awards!

We’re pleased as punch that our work for the FSA on Kitchen Life 2 has won the most innovative method at the Analysis in Government (AiG) awards. This fabulous study has involved installing motion sensitive cameras in 100 food business and domestic kitchens. We then used cutting edge video analytics platform to code behaviours, and undertook observations, interviews, surveys - all wrapped up in the COM-B behavioural science framework - to understand influences on behaviour in depth.

This project has been two years in the making and has involved a wealth of talent, including our wonderful team at Basis, partners at the FSA, as well as the fab folks at Lifestream, Leeds University, Fieldsauce and Analytical People.

In the words of Sir Ian Diamond, the UK’s National Statistician, who presented the award, Kitchen Life 2 is a “an exciting and fantastic piece of work… involving people from a wide range of disciplines… to produce brilliant data for the FSA”.

You can’t argue with that.
